The Rovaniemi Arctic Spirit Conference is pleased to announce that our biannual Arctic conference will be held on 14–16 November 2017 in Lappia Hall, Hallituskatu 11, 96100 Rovaniemi.
Rovaniemi Arctic Spirit 2017 provides the most important Arctic forum in Finland 2017, at the beginning of the Finnish chairmanship of the Arctic Council. It is also held only a few weeks before Finland celebrates its 100 years of independence.
The conference is organized by the City of Rovaniemi, the University of Lapland and its Arctic Centre together with the Arctic Society of Finland.
The preliminary program and online registration will be available in May 2017.

The Rovaniemi Arctic Spirit Conference is integrated with the Polar Law Symposium, which will be organized by the Northern Institute for Environmental and Minority Law at the Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland. The symposium will take place in Arktikum building, Rovaniemi on November 13–14, 2017.
The purpose of the Symposium is to examine, in detail, the implications of the challenges faced by the Polar Regions for international law and policy and to make recommendations on appropriate actions by states, policy makers and other international actors to respond to these emerging and re-emerging challenges.
